Croft Superstock 600 Race Report September 12th
Croft British Superbikes 28th - 30th August with Team TK Cope MCT racing in the Metzler
Superstock 600 National Championship.
3 RIDERS, 3 TOP 10 FINISHES. NOT A BAD WEEKEND AT ALL!
Team TK Cope MCT are pleased to announce that James East will be finishing the season riding Terry’s bike. Although Terry’s ankle injury has now healed, due to other injuries he sustained during his fall at Thruxton at the beginning of the season, he has taken the difficult decision not to ride and so, now, acting as mechanic for Adam, James East of East Racing has agreed to finish the season.
Saturday’s qualifying saw Adam roaring round the track to where he was almost 2 seconds faster than Danny Buchan and taking pole position being the fastest man out doing a 1.30.9. James struggled to start with and faced a tough qualifying session finding himself doing a 1.36.46. Liam, chasing the leading group and his little brother doing a 1.34.6.
Second qualifying on Sunday was dry which made a huge differ-ence to the team, all 3 riders were able to push themselves further to quicken their times. With Adam trying to keep his pole position he pushed himself a little too much and fell. Adam ok, but, with the bike needing a little work he was unable to finish the session and ended up qualifying 8th. James and Liam however excelled on the dry track with both of them putting in some very competitive times. Liam’s time was just 3 hundredths of a second behind Adam and so Liam was to start a very promising 9th on the grid. James too thrived on the dry conditions and after doing a 1.36.46 he would start in 12th.
During warm up the next morning Adam had a small fall but was luckily unharmed as he bounces very well! This gave Terry 1 hour to re prepare the bike before the race which was a real struggle against time. With Liam and James already on their way to the grid, Adam just made it down in time sweeping in front of the safety car!
As normally predicted the race was as tough as ever. The Super-stock 600 class is very competitive but this did not stop our boys from moving up positions and then defending them well. Adam came home 4th, James 7th and Liam 9th. Later on that evening though, there was some good news. Simpson of Trickbits had been excluded from the results due to a technical infringement. This meant that his 3rd position had been taken away so all riders moved up. More importantly it meant Adam and TK Cope MCT had got their first 3rd of the season! The amended finishings were Adam 3rd, James 6th and Liam 8th making it a fantastic weekend for the whole team.
Adam is now in equal 7th, Liam 11th and James 13th in the Cham-pionship. With just 2 more races till the end of the season and espe-cially with one being at Silverstone we hope to see many of our customers there supporting all our riders with the Teams goal now, to be all 3 riders to finish in the top 10.
The team would like to wish Danny Buchan of MSS Colchester Kawasaki a speedy recovery after his fall at Croft
